myForesight is a pioneering, national-level initiative dedicated to the study and application of the field of Foresight. It is undertaken by the Malaysian-Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department. Utilizing scientific and hybrid methodologies, myForesight conducts various foresight-related programmes nationwide. The programmes serves to guide the government and industry to systematically look into the future.
Foresight is a transdisciplinary field that tracks future trends in all spheres of human activity. It is an essential part of the planning process within the policy-making and industrial establishments, among others. It foresees new horizons and key drivers for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) as well as weak, extraneous signals that may snowball into disruptive, “wildcard” events.
myForesight provides a common Malaysian-based platform to share experiences, insights and expertise on futures studies both at the local and global levels. The key components to its mission will be intelligence, research, competency and community
myForesight envisions to provide the following outputs:
* Improve short, medium, long-term decision making;
* Guide technology choices among alternatives;
* Generate alternative trajectories for development;
* Motivate change and innovation;
* Achieve broad consensus and strategic commitments
Foresight has been acknowledged as a key high level instrument in strategising and planning for the future. It is adopted to model, understand and shape the future in order to gain competitive advantage through strategic decision making. myForesight initiatives is intended to support the country’s future need and development to compete successfully towards high income economy and realise the New Economic Model and to prepare Malaysian for Vision 2020 and beyond.
