25rd May 2022, Online session
Foresight is an interdisciplinary field of knowledge for studying the future. It further explores future trends and uncertainties, which are connected to current resource capacity and can be a great tool for ASEAN regional planning. The creation of the ASEAN Foresight Alliance (AFA) was endorsed by COST during the 74th conference on the 10th and 11th of May 2018 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in recognition of the significance of regional foresighting for ASEAN.
Dr. Tan Shu Ying, a MIGHT foresight expert, led an online discussion organised by Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) as a Malaysian representative, in which he briefed the STI cohorts from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam on the overall foresight process and feedback required for the Future of ASEAN STI 2035. The information obtained covered the current state of STI in each country, as well as prospective signals, their impact, and implications.
