Future competitiveness demands more than just economic growth—it requires shared prosperity, social progress and environmental stewardship. The real sign of progress is how well countries and regions can work together to achieve prosperity while also improving society and protecting the environment. This comprehensive approach calls for wealth creation to be balanced with responsibility, and the ESG framework becomes a key tool for embedding sustainability into corporate strategies and governance. The global push toward decarbonisation is accelerating, driving unprecedented investments in climate technologies and innovation. Smart cities, circular economy solutions, and clean energy transitions are no longer optional. They are vital for competitiveness in a carbon-constrained world. Advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, Big Data, and the Internet of Things are already demonstrating their transformative potential—from improving flood prediction and strengthening disaster preparedness to optimising waste management and improving energy efficiency. Eco-innovation and green investment can add 1–2% annual GDP growth in advanced economies, according to OECD and UNCTAD studies. At the same time, science, technology and innovation (STI) stand at the centre of efforts to address the defining challenges of our era— biodiversity loss, global warming, food security, disease elimination, poverty reduction, and nuclear non-proliferation. By intensifying STI, societies can unlock solutions that safeguard both people and the planet while building resilience against future shocks. Complementing these efforts, foresight methodologies provide a structured means to simulate plausible scenarios, enabling policymakers, businesses, and communities to anticipate risks, generate new ideas, and drive adaptive, future-ready innovation. Within ASEAN, the intensification of STI through the Action Plan and the strengthening of science diplomacy platforms are fostering trust and cooperation across borders. These initiatives are propelling the region toward greater resilience and competitiveness, positioning it as a leader in sustainable innovation and collaborative problemsolving. On that note, this edition of myForesight® is published in tandem with the Cyberjaya Conversations Summit 2025, a premier leadership platform convening policymakers, industry captains and innovators to shape ASEAN’s sustainable competitiveness beyond 2025. As you turn these pages, you will discover how sustainability and innovation are converging to redefine competitiveness. Both the magazine and the Summit share a common mission – to advance foresight-driven strategies, explore new opportunities, foster collaborations, and align common aspirations for a resilient, future-ready region. The journey ahead is not merely about growth; it is about building a future that is prosperous, inclusive and lasting.
