Sparking Innovation in the Public Sector

The Royal Government of Cambodia and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) held a National Conference on Public Sector in the Digital Era looking at how to advance innovation in governance, in an effort to improve services to her people on Public Sector in the Digital Era. The Conference brings together experts and civil servants from across the region to discuss public sector innovation.

MIGHT, myForesight® was invited as one of the panel for the scene setting session. myForesight® Director, Mr Rushdi Abdul Rahim, shared about the Malaysia’s initiative on ‘Future of Malaysia Public Service: Beyond 2020’. There are 25 Policy Directions identified to be considered and deliberated by future decision makers in the formulation of policies and plans. However, what is key for the Cambodia’s public service to sustainably deliver its purposes is to run local experiments and local solutions to local challenges with and by local communities and their citizens.

The session then followed by breakout sessions for participants to explore possibilities to adapt digital technologies within the public sector to support the Royal Government to achieve Cambodia’s Sustainable Development Goals (CSDGs), strengthen citizens’ trust in the governance system, and deliver public services more efficiently.
