As Malaysia navigates the complex intersection of climate change and demographic shifts, MIGHT continues to remains instrumental in promoting foresight and strategic planning. This is evident in its collaborative efforts with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to develop comprehensive foresight reports that address these megatrends. The “Transitioning Futures, Anticipating Change” report, jointly developed by UNDP and MIGHT, highlights the critical need for proactive measures to mitigate the socio-economic impacts of these changes, including a doubling of the population aged 65 and above by 2040 and significant threats to agriculture and coastal areas due to climate change. This strategic event was crucial for MIGHT, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to empowering its members with actionable insights on climate and demographic shifts. The session, attended by over 100 participants both physically and virtually, was tailored to align with Petronas’s sustainability goals. MIGHT guided how Petronas staff could use the report to initiate conversations, collaborate across divisions, and co-create impactful solutions, ensuring Petronas remains at the forefront of sustainability. This initiative reflects MIGHT’s role in fostering foresight and demonstrates its strategic engagement with key stakeholders to address future challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities in the high-tech and energy sectors.
