Promoting strategic planning and foresight across Southeast Asia is crucial for empowering governments and organisations to navigate future uncertainties effectively. This is particularly important in today’s rapidly changing global landscape, where the ability to anticipate and adapt to emerging trends and challenges is essential for sustainable development and economic growth. This training was conducted in partnership with the UNDP Cambodia Country Office as a key component of a broader programme supporting the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) in achieving its Sustainable Development Goals and implementing the Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1, focusing on growth, jobs, equity, efficiency and sustainability. The programme equips 16 participants with essential tools to leverage foresight for identifying trends, emerging issues, building scenarios, and exploring potential opportunities for economic growth tailored to Cambodia’s specific needs. By applying strategic foresight in policymaking, the New Economy Department will drive foresight in sustainable development, innovation and long-term growth. This initiative underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting foresight and innovation across the region, aligning with Cambodia’s broader goals of leveraging technology and strategic planning for sustainable economic development.
