National Unity

  • March 3, 2014

In person with Professor Dr. Wan Mohd Nor Wan Daud, Director, Centre for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science, and Civilization  (CASIS) UTM.

Professor Dr. Wan Mohd Nor identified religion and cultural differences as the two fundamental cause of disunity in Malaysia.

The society has different understanding of certain fundamental values and expectation which is due to lack of authoritative exposition on many key terms and concepts. The ignorance or superficial understanding on various religions have caused confusion and imprecision in understanding the nature of  religions and cultures. The nation’s higher education system and the role of language and linguistics in nation building plays an impetus role in bridging this gap between various races and ethnics. Hence, communication and good command of mutual language is crucial in addressing important matters such as such as religion, ethics and morality, politics and governance, development and justice.
