National Unity

  • February 20, 2014

TOLERANCE is a magic word but it requires deep understanding and extraordinary effort by citizens of a multi-cultural and multi-religion nation like Malaysia.  Tolerance in this context means ‘ force to like’, ‘ support’ or “deal and try our level best to put up with it”.

A session with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Madeline Berma, Director of Tun Fatimah Hashim Women’s Leadership Center, UKM, is one of myForesight’s engagements series with stakeholders that intends to explore on the topic of National Unity from a future perspective. Coming from native ethnic of Iban, Dr. Madeline shares her experience living in a suburban area of Bangi where 99% of its population are Malay-Muslim community. She  touched on globalization and media as the main drivers that will shape the future of Malaysian. According to her  “Change is the only thing that is permanent –  the important thing is how we adopt and adapt to it”.
