ISTIC-KISTEP Science and Technology Policy Training Program for High Level Policy Makers

The International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation under the Auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC) & Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP) had jointly organised a training program on the 5th to 9th November 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, entitled ISTIC-KISTEP Science and Technology Policy Training Program for High Level Policy Makers.

The event was attended by participants from local and international S&T stakeholders and decision makers. The program is based on Planning-Implementation-Evaluation (P.I.E) aiming to provide an approach and understanding to the participants on S&T management through practical case studies, examples and experiences. The KISTEP-ISTIC Program 2012 tackled real issues that was shared by both Malaysia and Korea, on the implementation of Foresight in national development plan and activities.

The Office of the Science Advisor, Prime Minister Department and MIGHT covered the local initiatives in the area of Policy and Technology Foresight in three topics, which are:

1.S&T, R&D Development: Creating the Right Environment,

2.Charting Malaysia Technology Development through Foresight, and

3.Foresight in Action: from Policy Planning to Industry Development Action Plan.

This programme is expected to benefit the participating policymakers and help them to improve the efficiency of the S&T efforts at all levels in respective situation.
