  • June 28, 2013
Greentech Foresight

Green Technology Foresight 2030 (GTF2030) is an initiative under the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), jointly undertaken with Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), and supported by the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (MGTC) and myForesight.

GTF2030 involves the systematic development and assessment of plausible scenarios on Green Technology development and its impact on the 9 identified sectors that are important to Malaysia, up to year 2030. It will identify list of priority green technology for the identified sectors to fulfill the National Green Technology Policy’s mission & objectives. The 9 sectors are Energy, Transportation, Buildings, Manufacturing, Waste, Water, ICT, Agriculture and Forestry.

The event was held on the 27th June 2013 at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) in conjunction of the MIGHT Annual General Meeting.

GTF2030 aims to produce a national strategic blueprint, based on intelligence gathering and inclusive stakeholders’ engagement involving government, industry, academia and NGOs, describing the plausible scenarios for Green Technology development in Malaysia, up to year 2030. Through the collective voices and consensus buildings of all key stakeholders, it attempts to prioritize the various green technologies in each sector and provide a clear common direction in green technology in the short- to long-term for human capital development, capacity building, R&D and investments in order to fulfill the aspiration of the National Green Technology Policy mission and objectives.

It has been a beneficial and interactive one-day session shared among invited speakers from the Ministries, the industry and participants. The breakout sessions were separated into 9 sectors in Green Technology Foresight, aimed to work towards having a set of reviewed and validated key drivers based on the list of drivers provided. The day ended with a presentation by group’s representative. There will be more upcoming workshops in the near future, be sure to keep updated by visiting our website.
